Rakenrol rambutan!
They’re not hard to identify, because they play in live bands and are probably one of the hairiest fruits you’ll ever see. And don’t be intimated by the long “hair” and hardcore lifestyles, because underneath is a glossy white surprise inside.
To eat them you can either use your thumbnails to pry open the hairy skin or squeeze the rambutan until the skin at the seam splits open. Or simply grab a knife, slice, and open!

The name comes from the Malay word for hair: rambut. Since it can be found in much of Asia it has many names, like សាវម៉ាវ (pronounced sau-mauv) in Cambodia and chôm chôm (pronounced chum-chum) in Vietnam.
It’s still rambutan season so go to your nearest palengke or merkado and rakenrol!
