Fishballs or fishbol are some of the more popular deep fried street foods you can find almost anywhere in the country, and also other places in Southeast Asia.
Fishbol and squid balls are also added to some pancit recipes. The most common fish used for fishbol are yellowtail fusilier, commonly known as Bilason, Aha-an or Anduhaw according to Fishbase, though a study has found that some fishball brands are actually mixed with pork or chicken.
Enjoy them in a cup, or on a stick or tusok, dipped or drenched in a delicious and ubiquitous sweet and/or spicy sauce made with brown sugar, toyo or soy sauce, garlic, sili or chilis, and freshly-diced onion.
